For her laudable contribution to containing the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), Late Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh of First Consultant Hospital today bagged an honorary doctorate degree from Baze University, Abuja.
She was conferred Degree of Doctor of Letters, HonourisCausa posthumously by the Board of Trustees (BOT) and Senate of Baze University during the institution's maiden graduation ceremony held today in Abuja.
While reading Adadevoh's citation, Head of General Studies, Dr. Kevin Sludds described her as extremely dedicated, compassionate and God-fearing individual who sacrificed her life to preventing a national catastrophe during the EVD outbreak.
According to the institute, the late Adadevoh left a permanent mark on the society, thus deserved the honour.
Adadevoh identified the index patient in the August 2014 Ebola outbreak in the country.
Former Head of State, General Abdulsalam Abubakar tasked the Federal and State Governments to ensure free and basic education for every child.
He said there was need for clear and positive policies that will ensure every Nigerian child acquire basic education.
Abubakar lamented increasing out of school children in the north, adding that about 10 million children lack access to basic education in that part of the country.
However, the former Head of State urged government to design implementable and sustainable policies that will reposition the education sector and equip young people to tertiary level.

On behalf of the 19 Northern governors, Gov. Babangida Aliyu of Niger State disclosed that the nation may need 50 more private universities to meet university education needs of the nation.
Aliyu promised his continuous support to the institute even after his completion of office.
"With the kind of people we have seen, we may need 50 more private universities to address our education," he said.
