As the nation prepares for the 2015 general election, there are wide indications the Igbo may occupy the seat of power in the next administration.
Sections of the Ndigbo are hopeful of having an Igbo elected President in the 2019 election.
They said if the Igbos cannot occupy the seat of power in the 2015 election, they should have better chance in the next general election.

Though, a number of Igbo has already pitched their tent to supporting the present administration in its bid for re-election.
However, it was gathered some have began to put in place structures to clinch the presidency in 2019.
Founder, Movement for the Restoration of Igbo People Dignity and Unity, Archbishop Dr. Chy Oriaku in an interview with our correspondent yesterday in Abuja, said the Igbo would make a common front in the 2015 election through advice from the elders.
Oriaku said: “We have leaders who can make decision for the Igbos and we believe in them, we trust them. We know they will come up with something reasonable for the Igbos. We are looking for Igbo President if not 2015, but 2019 and we are working towards that already.”
A traditional ruler, Eze Odezeani Igwe Ugonabo Neni told our correspondent that there was need for the Igbos to have their place in the administration of the country. He described the Igbos as those who have actively contributed to the development of the nation but often considered marginalised.
“I am not a politician. We will never have an Igbo president but Nigerian president of Igbo extraction. As an Igbo man, I will want an Igbo man to be president. If you look at it, they are the least presidentialised in Nigeria. So it behold that it is good for them to be President.
“I am not saying that there must be igbo president but Igbo man should get what its due to him in Nigeria,” the traditional ruler said.
According to him, internal crises within the nation could be resolved but not through killings and maiming.
“What it is to be Igbo is to be Nigerian. Igbo are one of the developers of Nigeria and I want the Igbos to be recognised. Well you might have heard about marginalisation and sometimes antagonism.
“I can say that without the Igbos, Nigeria will not be what it is today. It is Igbo to be a Nigerian and other tribes in Nigeria; i want them to show what they are because that is what will make Nigeria great. Igbos should be respected the more because of their developmental attitude.
“If Nigeria can resolve their differences, things will be better. Not trough fist-cuff wounding and killing people. Wherever human gathers, there will be differences even among brothers,” Eze Odezeani added.
Meanwhile, Oriaku added that it was imperative to encourage Igbo parents to speak Igbo language with their children at home. She said plans have commenced to come up with measures to inculcate Igbo language in school curriculums.
“If it is enforced, teaching and learning will be made easy. More so, in occasions like this, we won’t need to speak English but Igbo,” she stated.
