We will end insurgency through creation of 8 million jobs - APC

Abdulkadir

To check the uprising in the North East, Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), North West, Alh. Inuwa Abdulkadir has said the party will create eight million jobs in four years if elected into power.

The APC chieftain disclosed that employment creation was vital to sustenance of the nation's democracy.

The former Minister of Youth Development spoke at an Inter-Party Debate on Parties Master Plan for Rising Insecurity in Nigeria. It was organised by Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) in partnership with Osiwa, in Abuja.

He decried low performance of the present administration to effectively manage spate of insecurity in the country.

He blamed increasing violence and attacks in the nation on high unemployment rate.

Inuwa said, "One could say lack of jobs is one of the cause of insecurity in Nigeria. We have a quiet substantial number of young people who have no jobs or means of livelihood. Literally they have no activities and they have to eat food. So anybody can use them to fabricate all sort of violence."

"There are large problems of job creation. That's why job creation is the main crust of APC and that, you can witness in APC states. APC intends to provide the people with 2 million jobs annually when it gets into power."

In his remark, the representative of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Catchy Onanoju said the nation was unable to win the battle because of poor training of the military.

He disclosed that its been over 30 years that the Federal Government trained its Army.

"You can make your background check. Our boys have not been trained in the past 30 years. As I speak to you, if we have a real commando unit, 10 boys can go in and take out a battalion of Boko Haram. We are lucky because Boko Haram is not well organised. I am here sharing the truth about what we have as a challenge in the country.

"We have to agree as a country together to rebuild our army," Onanoju said.

However, he cautioned the opposition parties to desist from peddling false campaign against the present administration.

The PDP chieftain attributed this among reasons the United States refused to sell arms to the country.

Both parties agreed on the issue of State and community policing in order to address the lingering crisis in the country.

Inuwa added that the idea of community policing was part of the agenda of the APC manifestos for the masses.

He advised the federal government to ensure it spread implementation of its development policies across the three tiers of government.
